About BITS Pilani

Established in 1964, Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani) is one of India's first and foremost institutes for higher education. Founded by the visionary industrialist Shri G.D. Birla, the institute was conceived with a mission to "train young men and women able and eager to create and put into action such ideas, methods, techniques and information".

BITS Pilani has evolved into a vibrant academic community with campuses in Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad, and Dubai. The Institute is recognized for its rigorous academic curriculum, innovative pedagogy, and strong industry-academia interface. It was granted the status of an Institute of Eminence by the Government of India in 2020.

The Pilani campus, spread over 328 acres, is the founding campus and serves as the administrative headquarters. Its picturesque setting in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan provides an ideal environment for scholarly pursuit.

Admissions

Admission to BITS Pilani is highly competitive with selection based on merit in the BITS Admission Test (BITSAT) for undergraduate programs. For postgraduate programs, selection is based on performance in national level tests (GATE, CAT, etc.) and interviews.

Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology and minimum 75% aggregate

Selection: BITS Admission Test (BITSAT) - Computer based test conducted across India

Important Dates: Application opens January, BITSAT April-May, Results June
